Free Open Day

On the day, Museum will open its door to the public for free. Come and discover the heritage and culture of Australia’s Chinese community. You will see Victorian’s old gold fields, three generations of Melbourne dragons, Qing Dynasty’s bed, traditional Chinese wedding dresses, Chinese in World War One and recent migration stories. The world’s largest processional dragon, the Millennium Dragon will parade from the Museum around 11 am. Penjing (Chinese Bonsai) workshop and Fengshui predictions are also available during 1-3pm. You can take part in the Millennium Dragon Parade (Download 2015 Dragon Parade Route):

• Boys & girls over 12 years to carry weapons, banners and lanterns
• Boys & men over 16 years old to be the ‘Legs’ of the Dragon
• Please come to the Museum at 9 am
• Uniforms will be issued to all participants (except footwear). Please come wearing white runners
• Lunch will be provided free of charge to participants after the parade
